This course has been designed around the requirements outlined in the Ministry of Labour guidelines for self propelled elevating work platforms and CSA B354.2-01 Participants will: Become familiar with legal requirements set out in the Occupational Health and Safety Act and applicable Regulations for Industrial Establishments Read and understand all limitations, warnings and operating procedures and operator's responsibilities for maintenance of the equipment Understand and be familiar with the Operating Maintenance and Parts Manual and Operator's Manual provided by the manufacturer for the specific make and model he or she will be using. 80% grade required for pass
This course will provide the necessary theoretical knowledge of proper fall prevention. Participants will learn the legal requirements under the following legislation. Understand the principles of basic hazards and controls of fall prevention. Ladders, scaffolds, powered aerial work platforms, protective covers, warning barriers and bump lines, guardrails. Understand travel-restraint systems, Fall-restriction & safety net systems, Fall-arrest components, Bottoming out, Pendulum effect, Emergency rescue. 80% grade required for pass
Lock out Tag out is the most effective way to control hazardous energy and is required by law when performing tasks such as the maintenance, repair, and cleaning of any piece of equipment. The Lock-out Tag-out Training Program is interactive and informative. It plays out various unsafe workplace scenarios while testing employees on why this accident happen and what they could have done to prevent it. The Lock-out Tag-out Training Program covers: What is lock-out tag-out?, the different forms of energy, lock-out tag-out devices and a step by step procedure of locking out machines and equipment. 80% grade required for pass
This course will provide the participant with the necessary knowledge of proper propane handling, changing and storage. Participants will: Be familiar with legislation and regulation requirements for propane handling for the Theory portion of propane handling training. Be familiar with the characteristics of propane, propane expansion, propane cylinders and temperatures, the major hazards of propane, propane's flammability range, the appropriate liquid propane filling level and liquid and vapour propane systems. Identify propane cylinder components and be familiar with inspections procedures. Be familiar with propane cylinder changing, handling and storage procedures, receiving policy and procedures, propane supplier label and material safety data sheet and personal responsibilities, safety, emergency response Learn how to identify and properly tag-out a defective, damaged and out-of-date propane cylinder. 80% grade required for pass
The course familiarizes workers with WHMIS which stands for Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System. This system is designed to provide health and safety information to workers about the hazardous materials or controlled products in their workplaces. Participants will learn about WHMIS symbols and their meanings, labels on products, and material safety data sheets (MSDSs). The course provides practical advice on how to safely handle hazardous materials on the job. 80% grade required for pass
